Xbox Cloud Gaming On Steam Deck

I've been wanting to put Xbox Cloud Gaming on my Steam Deck for a long time, it's now operational! Here is the tutorial!

I hesitated before starting because I had to enter a few lines of commands but frankly I don't regret it! It's ultimately very simple to install and damn it works well with a good internet connection :) . Then there is no loss of warranty because it is just an internet browser that we install! We don't touch the Steam Deck OS!

Contrary to the indications of many YouTubers, there is no need for a keyboard and mouse to carry out the operations. The steam deck has a virtual keyboard via the Steam+X key

First step you must switch the steam deck to desktop mode and download Microsoft Edge Beta as well as Google Chrome

Second step: add Microsoft Edge Beta to Steam

Third step we start “konsole” and we launch this command which will allow Microsoft Edge Beta to take into account the steam deck commands (pad buttons joystick triggers)

flatpak –user override –filesystem=/run/udev:ro com.microsoft.Edge

Fourth step we launch steam we search for microsoft edge beta then property. We change the name to Xbox Cloud Gaming Beta. Then in launch option after (@@u @@): we copy/paste the following instruction
–window-size=1024,640 –force-device-scale-factor=1.25 –device-scale-factor=1.25 –kiosk “https://www.xbox.com/play”

This will allow Xbox Cloud Gaming to have the resolution of the Steam Deck!

Fifth step you must click on “control” and selectGamepad with Mouse Trackpad.I have tested other gamepad configurations and most are good for you to see.

Last aesthetic step, from Google Chrome you download theicon image pack background image. Once downloaded, right-click and you replace the empty Xbox Cloud Gaming icon with that of the pack. The same goes for the background image!

That’s all! All you have to do is restart the Steam Deck and enter your Xbox account information! Enjoy 🙂

PS: if the steam deck controller is not taken into account on the Xbox Cloud Gaming, you just have to repeat step 3 :) “Konsole”

Since my foot was immobilized, I have been using Xbox Cloud Gaming on my Steam Deck! I've tested many games and frankly it's not bad! It's smooth even if sometimes we encounter some compression artifacts. There is a bit of input lag but frankly it helps out well! It all depends on your internet connection and the quality of your WiFi. Needless to say, I plan to take my steam deck on vacation to take advantage of the crazy Xbox CLoud Gaming catalog!!!
