Today I present to you my Review of Sonic Colors Ultimate on Nintendo Switch! Happy reading!

Thanks to the support ofKoch Media, I have the honor to offer you my test ofSonic Colors Ultimate on Nintendo Switch! Being a big fan of the blue hedgehog, I couldn't wait to play this remaster of Sonic Colors! For what? Because I had never played Sonic Colors which was available at the time on the venerable Nintendo Wii (but also on Nintendo DS). I favored the Switch version so that I could play Sonic Colors Ultimate anywhere :)

Sonic is back!

No need to introduce Sonic to you eh! Any self-respecting player necessarily knows the legend of the fastest blue hedgehog in the world ^^. In Sonic Colors Ultimate, our brave Sonic (accompanied by Tails) must thwart a new evil plan from Dr. Eggman. This tireless doctor has built an inter-planetary amusement park without forgetting to take advantage of the powers of extraterrestrials, called the wips.

Sonic Colors Ultimate allows you to travel through different planets (or lands). Each land offers several levels as well as a boss. It’s Sonic, we’re on familiar ground. Being a regular at Sonic video games, the gameplay of Sonic Colors did not faze me. It’s classic, it works well. Sonic Colors alternates between 3D and 2D gameplay, in short like in Sonic Generation. I noticed that certain passages in 2D were problematic because Sonic became very small. For passages in 3D sometimes the camera had difficulty following, this is a known problem with Sonic 3D. The Nintendo Switch being less powerful than the Xbox Series Honestly I survived, graphically it's cute, you get a good feeling of speed, it's perfectly playable :) and I finished the game! I saw on the internet that people were complaining about the Switch version of Sonic Colors Ultimate because it would contain bugs. I'll be honest, yes I once had a big graphical bug (escape level before the end of the final boss). It was illegible. Fortunately, when I restarted my game everything was back to normal. There is no doubt that updates will resolve this problem.

I enjoyed Sonic Colors Ultimate for a variety of reasons. Thanks to the wisps, Sonic has new features in terms of his movements (the rocket, the cubes, the thorns…). It’s really nice, this little innovation in gameplay feels good. Sonic Colors Ultimate is also entirely in French! It's nice! I find the atmosphere of the Sonic cartoons from my childhood. The cutscenes are nice, the story is funny, the lifespan of Sonic Colors is decent. For challengers, it is even possible to do a time trial by setting records by repeating the different levels.

I have already mentioned above some defects of Sonic Colors Ultimate (camera problems, graphics bug in final level before the boss). I also noticed that some levels ended too quickly.  This causes a slight imbalance, which is a shame.

Here is my verdict!

I had never played Sonic Colors, and I am very happy to have played this Ultimate version. Of course, it is not without flaws with its few camera issues and its graphics bug (probably corrected with the update) but it remains perfectly playable on Nintendo Switch! I had a good time. Sonic Colors innovates in terms of gameplay thanks to the powers of wisps. I really liked the story of this Sonic! The voices in VF as well as the cute cutscenes, it definitely has an effect and I dive back into my childhood :)
