Hot Wheels Unleashed review

Today I offer you my test of Hot Wheels Unleashed on my Xbox Series X!!!! Vrouuuuuuum  Vrouuuuuuuum!!!!

After numerous laps, and the use of the different game modes offered in this arcade racing game, I now offer you my test of Hot Wheels Unleashed on my shiny Xbox Series X!!!! Once again, thank you to Koch media for sending me this game so that I could produce an article! My children are also delighted with the little car 😉

No need to introduce Hot Wheels, you probably know their toys! You most certainly have small cars from this brand at home, and it is likely that your children simulate crazy races in their bedrooms.

The video gameHot Wheels Unleashedon Xbox (also available on PS4, PS5 Nintendo Switch and PC) offers wild arcade races in single-player or multiplayer mode. It should be noted that this racing game offers a 2-player split-screen mode (this is so rare these days), which is great fun! Online you can play with up to twelve players, I tested it and it works well, it’s terribly fun!

Xbox pad in hand, I feel like I'm playing Trackmania, that's a very good point because this little racing game was really fun to play! The gameplay is full arcade, it's crazy! There are loops, turbos, springboards, traps, and all the circuits remind me of my childhood. I think back to my childhood bedroom with my improbable but ingenious and funny racing circuits :) . The game is fluid, the feeling of speed is excellent, the handling is immediate, and with practice you will master the drifts to perfection to recharge the dose of boost (turbo)! My children aged 04 and 08 played this arcade racing game without any problem 🙂 Graphically Hot Wheels Unleashed is very clean, the little cars are superb, the decorations correspond well to the rooms of children and pimply teenagers ^^. In short, this game ticks all the boxes of a very good arcade racing video game! It’s not surprising anyway. It’s the excellent Milestone studio that’s in charge!

I have made good progress in the single player mode of the game to unlock many small cars. I noticed a small flaw though. At some point we find ourselves stuck in progress. Fortunately the internet is there, and I was able to solve this mystery. Basically you have to choose the right car and a specific race or event to continue to progress. It’s strange but that’s how it is. The single-player mode may lack additional information. It also lacks variety. Basically we go through races and “time trials” one after the other. Concerning the audio, the sound effects are good, however the music tends to be repetitive.

Like Trackmania, Hot Wheels Unleashed offers a circuit creation mode, it's a childhood dream come true :). If you are creative, you will have fun and create superb circuits. If the community is there, we will end up with exceptional circuits! You can also improve your cars, and dismantle those you have duplicates. And yes, Hot Wheels Unleashed like many other video games now offers “mystery boxes”…

Here is my verdict!

Milestone creates a (very) good arcade racing video game with Hot Wheels Unleashed style. It’s a childhood dream come true. Controller in hand, young and old can drive the racing cars of our childhood, it's very pleasant to play. Certainly Hot Wheels Unleashed lacks a bit of variety and new features in its single-player mode, but hey it is still plentiful. The multiplayer (split-screen and online) is very fun. The circuit creation is complete, I can't wait to see the creations of the Hot Wheels fan community :)
