XBox Cloud Gaming here is my opinion!
XBox Cloud Gaming, formerly Xcloud, is now available in beta testing on PC but also iPhone and iPad! Here's what I think of the PC version of Xbox CLoud Gaming!
What are the requirements for playing on Xbox Cloud Gaming? You must first be a subscriber to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (subscription including around a hundred video games on PC but also on Xbox). We then need a PC, an internet connection, an up-to-date web browser and finally an Xbox controller connected via USB or Bluetooth.
After receiving my invitation to Xbox Cloud Gaming, I went to the sitexbox.com/playand I logged in with my Xbox session. We then find ourselves on the Xbox CLoud Gaming (beta) menu and launch the game of our choice (around a hundred games are offered). On Xbox Cloud Gaming, there is no need to download updates, patches or install your games. We select our game and launch it directly without worrying 🙂 . It’s video game on demand with Netflix style. By pressing the Xbox button on the controller, we find the settings, parameters and different options available on Xbox consoles. However, we must understand that we do not play on our personal Xbox console, we play on a random Xbox system available remotely. On the other hand, we find our backups to continue our games ^^. But how does this Xbox Cloud Gaming work? Without going into too much detail, Microsoft has installed Xbox Ones in servers all over the world and you can therefore play remotely from any location in the world. The only prerequisites are a screen, an Xbox controller and a decent internet connection.
At home, I have a coaxial fiber internet connection, and I tried Xbox Cloud Gaming on my landline PC connected to the internet via a CPL (carrier current line) socket. I also played Xbox Cloud Gaming on my Surface Pro 4 by connecting to 5ghz wifi (avoid 2.4ghz wifi). I played the Halo Master Chief Edition Saga but also Forza Horizon 4. On Halo, frankly, the result is stunning. I rarely felt like I was playing from a distance. It’s fluid, it’s playable, it’s pretty good. However, I noticed some jerks on Forza Horizon 4, but nothing too bad, it's still playable. It must be said that I got into the “bad” habit of playing FH4 on my Xbox Series X :p. Count on me to try Xbox Cloud Gaming over classic ADSL connections. I am also interested in opinions from players with an ADSL connection.
Last year, I was already playing Xcloud (the former name of Xbox Cloud Gaming) on my Huawei Android tablet. It was already working quite well at the time. Now that Xbox Cloud Gaming is available on PC and Ios via a simple web browser, I will be able to play my Xbox games during my break at work, but also at my vacation spot when I have time for myself :)
My opinion on Xbox Cloud Gaming
Obviously, XBox Cloud Gaming is still in beta. There is still a long way to go for this cloud video game system to be technically flawless, there are sometimes some jerks or slowdowns. We can make fun of Google Stadia because commercially this service seems to be a total fiasco, but technically speaking, Google Stadia cloud gaming is impeccable with a good internet connection.
I noticed (unless I am mistaken) that it is not yet possible to play my Xbox games in French, I quibble but that may put off some players who do not master the language of Shakespeare at all. I also noticed that Xbox Cloud Gaming is content (for the moment) with the Xbox One system for remote gaming. This will I imagine soon to be replaced by an Xbox series S/X system
What is certain, however, is that Xbox Cloud Gaming is a big plus. You can play Xbox games everywhere, from any device (PC, iOS, Android)! There are no more limits! We can play at our vacation spot, during our break at work, or from any screen at home. All you need to do is subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, bring your Xbox controller and that's it :) .
Xbox Cloud Gaming should take up the slogan of the very first Xbox “Play More” 😀
