Which console to buy in 2017?
2017 represents half of their respective careers for the Playstation 4 and the Xbox One, and for the Nintendo Switch it will have the difficult task of making people forget the humiliating failure of the Wii U! So which console to buy in 2017?
We are already in 2017 and it has been more than 3 years since the PS4 and Xbox One have been available on our market to the delight of gamers! Casually, the next generations will soon arrive! For the Nintendo Switch it's completely different, it will finally arrive soon to make us forget the Wii U! So which console to buy in 2017?
The Playstation 4!
We're not going to lie, the Playstation 4 is a very big success, if not the biggest commercial success in terms of video game console sales. Casually, commercial success is important! For what? Because it is on this console that the games will be released first and then on the others if they are not too abandoned... Without forgetting the exclusives that she will easily obtain! As proof of this, I particularly point to the exclusion of the Final Fantasy 7 remake but especially the upcoming arrival of Shenmue 3 (highly recommended :D). Clearly whatever the PS4 model, I without hesitation advise people to buy this popular console! If you have solid finances, don't hesitate to invest in the PS4 Pro with its boost mode (improved game speed and loading times), its 4k display, its HDR mode, its optimization for the Playstation VR and its power multiplied by 2 compared to a normal PS4! If you don't have too much money, the PS4 slim will more than do the job given that the PS4 Pro will not have exclusive games except for performance optimization… Be careful, however, with Sony's reaction to the upcoming arrival of the Xbox Scorpio. If the latter is a hit, Sony risks hastening the arrival of the Playstation 5!
The Xbox One!
Clearly this Xbox One is in difficulty, cancellation of exclusives like Fable Legends and Scalebound. Use of strong licenses to the point of exhaustion, such as Halo 5, Gears Of War, and the Forza saga. No visibility into the near future. What exclusives or games are planned for Xbox One this year that will make a difference? No idea. Commercially after a catastrophic start in 2013, the Xbox One has really come back on track (thanks to the price drops and the Xbox One S) but still lags behind the PS4. For the end of 2017, Microsoft announced the arrival of the Xbox Scorpio which promises to blow away the competition in terms of performance and graphics! This Scorpio promises to be much more efficient than the PS4 PRO, with full compatibility for 360 and Xbox One games. On the other hand, the Scorpio will not have any exclusivity compared to the Xbox One, which means that the games will also be released on Xbox One! For the moment I advise caution on the Xbox One. I don't really recommend buying it while waiting for the official announcement of the Xbox Scorpio! Because if it turns out the Scorpio will cannibalize the Xbox One! If it turns out Microsoft will even return to PC gaming like back then... We will have more visibility once the console is presented. Despite everything, the Xbox One has a good catalog of video games in addition to the 360 catalog as well as a solid and reliable online service. Buying the Xbox One in 2017? Why not but then at a really low price so as not to take too much risk…
The Wii U and Nintendo Switch!
I'll cut to the chase, don't buy the Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo doesn't make it anymore, it's officially dead. Even if online gaming is still available, make no mistake, Nintendo is going to disconnect it from Wii U in favor of paid online gaming on the next Nintendo Switch. This Wii U unfortunately does not have enough games to justify its purchase today. If you really have to buy it, please buy it at a very low price. Frankly 100€ max and still... I do not recommend purchasing this Wii U in 2017 except for the collector of old consoles. For the Nintendo Switch the situation is different! It will be released in a few days and its concept is clearly promising! Play anywhere (in the living room or outside) and anytime! Play solo or with your friends with the local multiplayer mode which promises to be addictive and friendship breaker! The online mode should also finally catch up with Xbox Live and PSN. This Switch will also be aimed at motion gaming aficionados like the Wii at the time! In short, this Nintendo Switch seems great for gamers but also for the general public! The only current problem seems to be the public's reception of this new Nintendo console! I bet she’s going to be a hit! For what? The concept is simple, innovative and promising! I think 3DS players will migrate to this Switch as well as those disappointed with the Wii U and those nostalgic for the Wii! If the games follow, Nintendo could relive its greatest commercial successes! I believe it! Maybe my advice is lame but I recommend buying this Nintendo Switch in 2017, having tried it, you will have a blast on this console! If I'm wrong, on the other hand, you can hang me in the Public Square ^^
The PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS!
I'm not going to write prose, run away from this Playstation Vita, it no longer has video games, Sony doesn't even mention it anymore, and as Remote Play for the Playstation 4 it's really crap! Even PlayStation Now and other services are deleted on this dead and buried PS Vita. Shame on Sony for this stupidly wasted portable console! For the Nintendo 3DS it's completely different! It has an astronomical quantity of excellent video games, it is still in 2017 a very good portable console that I recommend buying! Nintendo assures that it will be supported until 2018! A little caution however, perhaps the Nintendo Switch will cannibalize the 3DS, everything will depend on its success. At a low price, this Nintendo 3DS is worth it! Good game!
