Test of Uncharted the coaster of Port Aventura!

I had the opportunity to try “Uncharted” the new roller coaster at Port Aventura Park in Spain!

To mark the next 40th birthday of colleague and friend Raph Karas, we were this weekend in Salou in Spain, at the Port Aventura World amusement park, a place famous for these wild roller coasters ^^. Luckily, the Uncharted attractionwas supposed to open its doors this Saturday, June 17! Having loved the Uncharted saga and in particular Uncharted 4 on my Playstation 4, I was clearly looking forward to testing this new Uncharted roller coaster, based on the video game license. Well, on the other hand, let's not talk about the catastrophic film Uncharted, this film is an intergalactic nonsense.

Obviously, on June 16, the Uncharted attraction was reserved in the morning for VIPs/influencers/crunchy YouTubers/specialized press coasters… (you can delete the unnecessary entry). We the little people (the plebs) had to wait patiently until the next day to finally be able to test this new Uncharted coaster which is located in the Far West land!

Uncharted Private VIP Opening June 16

For the record, this Uncharted roller coaster is inspired by the Sony film (ouch). The scenario is as follows:more than 500 years ago an Aztec treasure was hidden in the bowels of a mountain, in the heart of the Far West. » Yes it’s Uncharted with Tom Holland!  This attraction is a new dark ride coaster, made up of 3 trains that can accommodate 12 adventurers.  Obviously, like any new self-respecting attraction, we are promised superb sensations with even 1 g of acceleration, no less!

You're starting to know me, I couldn't wait for June 17 to finally try this new roller-coaster based on the Uncharted saga that I love!

On the big day, I ran like never before, to be one of the first adventurers to discover this Uncharted attraction! Unfortunately, everything did not go as I hoped! The next paragraph is a rant, I prefer to warn! But don't worry, the attraction was still very nice!

Bad surprise for me, arriving in front of the Uncharted attraction, day-one! She didn't plan to open her doors before noon at best! It’s not like I have my train at 2:30 p.m. eh! I was disgusted, because it was nowhere mentioned that the Uncharted attraction would not open at the opening time of Port Aventura Park (10 a.m.). The day before, employees informed visitors that the attraction would be open during normal hours. Clearly I was angry and I was far from being the only one. Many other visitors came just for this attraction and everyone expected the attraction to be open. Not wanting to give up, I waited with many other visitors right in front of the Uncharted attraction. We expressed our strong dissatisfaction with fervor and in song! Even the crushing heat didn’t get the better of us!  Thanks to the determination of my Spanish compatriots, the Park finally opened the Uncharted attraction around 11am!!! Clearly the management of the Park did not at all anticipate the wait and dissatisfaction of visitors with this new attraction closed at 10 a.m. The heat was stifling, they could clearly at least open the shaded queues. Rant over!

Uncharted finally open thanks to the fervor of the Spanish!!!!

After waiting for more than an hour in the heat of almost 38°, the attraction finally opened its doors! I then walked through and explored the large queue which offered very beautiful decorations on the theme of Uncharted. If I had to compare it, this queue is as successful as that of Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland Paris. The Uncharted queue is a visual treat, you sometimes think you're an Indiana Jones explorer with the traps in the caves (be careful there's a surprise ^^), the statues, the drawings etc… The queue is long to go but it is not unpleasant, on the contrary. We meet Nathan Drake, main protagonist of the Uncharted Saga as well as Sully. Unfortunately I couldn't hear much because the Spanish tend to speak loudly so the audio animations were barely perceptible...

Here, here, Nathan Drake…

After going through the queue it was my turn to finally take a seat on the train which offered rows of 4 seats. The departure lounge was also well-kept in terms of decor and atmosphere. The wagon seat was wide and comfortable. Once installed and properly strapped in, I felt perfectly safe in this new roller coaster. At the top, departure, our train has taken off for the Uncharted adventure! Being a coaster in the dark, we don't necessarily guess which way our train is going! I don't want to spoil the route for you, but clearly the orientation of the wagon is fun! Several times during the course, we were treated to convincing visual and sound animations! I loved the unexpected boost, you can really feel the 1 g! It was disturbing but also very funny! The whole family can enjoy this Uncharted roller coaster, we come away from the adventure with good explorer memories. On the other hand, I found this experience far too short. If I'm not talking nonsense, the attraction only lasts 1 minute and 30 seconds :-/ . I wouldn't want to be in the place of the poor visitors who wait outside for more than 3 hours...

Beware of traps…

My verdict

The first opening of the Uncharted attraction was complicated and disorganized! I would like to warmly thank the Spanish visitors to Port Aventura Park! Without their fervor and unfailing determination, I would not have been able to try the Uncharted coaster in time. Regarding this Uncharted roller coaster, it is very nice! The universe of the video game saga is respected, the waiting room (girl) is very beautiful, the decorations are good and the atmosphere is there! It’s an excellent idea to offer visitors fun queues. The Uncharted coaster course is original and careful in its staging.  I had good sensations in terms of acceleration, but it's a shame that this experience was so short!

When you want to try the Uncharted attraction, find out the opening times! Prepare your trip well! If you are solo, do not hesitate to use the solo visitor queue. If I'm not talking nonsense, the Uncharted attraction offers this option!
