Super Nintendo Classic Mini review

After the Nintendo Classic Mini, Nintendo released its new Super Nes model! So here is my review of the Super Nintendo Classic Mini

Given the incredible (and deserved) success of its Nintendo Classic Mini (see the review), Nintendo has launched its new model, the Super Nintendo Classic Mini. It must be said that Nintendo's 16-bit console made history with its emblematic games and its famous mode 7 used in certain games in 03 dimensions. To mark the occasion, I offer you my test of the Super Nintendo Classic Mini.

Back to 1992!

Yes, damn, that’s when I tell myself that I’m getting too old for this bullshit! Damn 26 years old damn pixel! At the time, the war was already raging between “Sega is more than you” with its cult megadrive, and the incredible Super Nintendo! For its new edition, the Super Nintendo Classic Mini has been miniaturized as much as possible, but still retains its magnificent graying look of the time :) Concerning the controllers, they are identical to those of the time, except the connection port which changes. Only small downside, as with the Nintendo Classic Mini, this Super Nes edition is unable to read the original game cartridges too bad, but you shouldn't have dreamed either...

Okay, shall we play?

Yes and yes, damn the sauce takes off straight away, I dive back into my childhood by launching a game of The Legend Of Zelda a Link To The Past, Street Fighter II Turbo, or Super Mario Kart. The emulation is simply perfect. The cathode filter enhances the image in game (1080P) and respects the visual sensations of yesteryear. The excellent idea is the integration of game saving, but also a little backtracking to avoid fatal falls in game. This modernity allows us to improve the experience of games of the time and that's super cool! If I have to express a few regrets, it’s that the games are all in English! And yes these are games in NTSC format, it's not super practical when you're playing an RPG! Why not localize the games? What a pity.  Well, I'm quibbling too, but there are a few cult games missing from this list of 21 games.

Here is my verdict

I'm not going to beat around the bush, this Super Nintendo Classic Mini is a very nice tribute to the cult Super Nintendo of my childhood. We find all the very good sensations of the time. Nintendo got it right by releasing new miniature versions of these old video game consoles. The Japanese firm knows that it will touch the nostalgic fiber of these early gamers with these small consoles. If I have to complain a little about this Super Nintendo Classic Mini, I regret that the games are in the US language and that they miss certain cult games. Little tip for missing “google is your friend 🙂” games. Come on Nintendo, the next model is the Nintendo 64 classic Mini?
