This eternal question always comes up when it comes to renewing your video game machines. Should you play on PC or consoles? This question is even more important when our budget is limited and we cannot afford both a video game console and a PC. The time to choose has come!

Play the “master race” on PC

Who has never heard this expression “PC game = master race”. And yes today we consider the PC as the “master race”. For what? Quite simply because PCs since the Xbox One and PS4 generations literally explode the configurations of our consoles. The fault of manufacturers like Sony but especially Microsoft who offered low cost consoles at a discount in terms of technical configuration. Any self-respecting PC gamer will confirm this. Obviously you need to have a gaming PC worthy of the name, based on Intel i5 or Amd Ryzen but above all at least a GTX 960-970 or RX 480 to enjoy a PC that rocks! At this point, multi-platform games like Assassin’s Creed, For Honor, GTA, WatchDogs 2, BattleField, The Witcher III and many others will be much more beautiful but above all are much more pleasant to play on PC (whether with a keyboard, mouse or pad). Indeed, on PC, games are not locked at 30 frames per second like most of the time on consoles! On PC we also find genres of video games that are rarely found on consoles, such as RTS, as well as strategy and management games. The PC with the same rights has games previously exclusive to consoles, like fighting games! It must be said that the full compatibility of the Xbox One and PS4 pad on PC helps :D. And yes, the PC video game has not stolen its name of “master race” provided you pay the price (600 to 700€ minimum to play correctly). I think it’s not the PS4 Pro that will change the situation! Who knows, maybe the Xbox One X will change this situation? He will need unforgettable games on the other hand, it's not won...

Playing on console the economical solution?

We can indeed think so! On PC, to play correctly, you need between €600 and €800 minimum! While the XBox One like the PS4 can be negotiated between 200 and 250€! For the Nintendo Switch it costs €300 at the moment but we are talking about a hybrid home/portable console. But what about the price of the games? Unfortunately, games on consoles are often more expensive than on PC! Count on €60/70 for a console game compared to €40/45 for the same game on PC! On the other hand, what is certain is that it is not necessary to renew your console every 2 years as you have to renew the configuration of your PC quite often... You can easily play for 5 to 7 years with your console, even if at the end of your life the games are harder to watch on console, compared to the same game on PC. The advantage of video game consoles is that there is no need to tinker with your bike or install your game so that it is optimized! Although, the PS4, like the Xbox One, inaugurated the day one patch of several gigabytes to correct the game's defects... On PC with the emergence of Steam from GOG and D’Origin, the installation of the game becomes almost invisible. Another advantage of game consoles is that they have certain exclusives not found on PC. Like Sony's Gran Turismo, but especially Nintendo's Mario games...  Small detail which is important, on console you can easily resell your video games thanks to the physical format, whereas with the generalization of dematerialized gaming on PC you cannot resell your games! Now let's talk about the annoying things on consoles!  The online game is paid! Under the pretext of using platforms like Xbox Live and PSN, you have to pay €60 per year to be able to play online! Multiplatform console/PC games are often restricted because of the low cost configurations of the consoles. You have to get used to playing only at 30 frames per second with average graphics... If these flaws don't scare you, playing on console ultimately allows you to play for a long time on your machine without worrying about configurations!

Should you play on PC or consoles? Final round, fight!

To answer the question, currently, it is better to play on PC I think because our consoles are really technically outdated. In the end, as is often the case, it comes down to a question of budget! If your budget is unlimited, take your video games on your latest model PC, your multiplatform games will be splendid and will shatter the console versions! Concerning the exclusives you will be able to take them on the consoles concerned. On the other hand, if your budget is tight, forget the PC game, you will have to choose your game console carefully, the classic PS4 console seems to be the best option at the moment!
