Should you buy the Nintendo New 3DS?
Since Nintendo has a habit of releasing different new models of its portable consoles (Nintendo 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS…), I ask myself the following question. Should you buy the Nintendo New 3DS?
AND yes, it's frankly not easy to navigate with all these models of portable consoles made in Nintendo. Nintendo has a tradition of releasing an advanced model of its portable video game console every 2 years (roughly speaking). In this case, Nintendo has upgraded its Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL with new models, Nintendo New 3DS, New 3DS XL, New 2DS XL. So what's up doctor?
The look of the “New 3DS, New 3DSXL” range has barely changed, so to speak. The cartridge port, as well as certain buttons change places, a Stick-C appears (a sort of very small joystick placed on the right) in addition to the left joystick. The buttons are now colored like in the good old days of the Super Nintendo.
In terms of power, things are better, the New 3DS range is at least twice as fast on the graphics chip and central processor side. Note that the RAM has also been doubled. In short, it is twice as powerful!
Nintendo has also improved 3D relief thanks to the console's camera which perfectly follows the movements of the player's head. The console screen is also a bit larger and brighter.
Note that for its New 3DS range, Nintendo has added an NFC chip for Amibos lovers.
Finally, the autonomy of the Nintendo New 3DS looks better than that of its big sister, so good point.
A question arises in the end. If you already own the Nintendo 3DS, do you have to checkout again for the New 3DS range? Frankly I don't think so. To my knowledge there are no exclusive games (maybe one or 2 but I'm not sure) on these new New 3DS and New 3DS XL models. It is stupid to change portable consoles, only to end up playing the same game. The additions made by Nintendo for its New 3DS range do not justify buying a new console.
On the other hand, for those who do not yet own a Nintendo 3DS, it is obvious that we must favor this new New 3DS range, it is almost the same price to have a console that is still much more powerful, and certain points of which have been improved. Personally I stay on my good old Nintendo 3DS XL. I'm waiting to see the next generation of portable console made by Nintendo. So, return of the GameBoy, or new 3DS? Bets are on!
