I admit, when I saw it on the shelves, I was attracted by the beautiful packaging of this Sega Megadrive mini version. Should I remind you that the Sega Megadrive is, along with the Sega Dreamcast, my favorite console? In short, I fell for it and bought it so that my son could get his hands on this new edition of the Sega MegaDrive At Game. When unpacking, we find ourselves with a very small Sega Megadrive, on the nice side 02 controllers are available, and in addition to the 80 games, it is possible to insert original cartridges! My first good impression quickly dissipated unfortunately. In fact, wireless controllers have infrared technology like TV remote controls. No need to draw a picture. These controllers are not responsive at all and sometimes the controls are completely unresponsive! The only solution is to connect a wired Megadrive controller, this solves the problem. Then this Sega Megadrive plugs into RCA (yellow cable). On a modern Full HD television the image is disgusting in addition to being blurry.
For information, the venerable Sega Megadrive, original, had a quality RGB cable… Frankly, it's absurd that this Sega Megadrive At Game does not have an HDMI connection in 2017! The icing on the cake is that the games do not run at normal speed on this Sega Megadrive At Game. It’s slow, but it’s slow… On Sonic it’s really obvious! Small compensation among the 80 games offered, some are real video game gems. You have understood that for 60€ we are far from the excellent work done by Nintendo on the Nintendo Classic Mini, in particular thanks to its look, its HDMI cable, the cathode TV filter and the perfect emulation. Honestly, don't be like me,Don’t buy this Sega Megadrive At Game, it’s rubbish even at €60. Choose a second-hand Sega Megadrive which will do the job perfectly, even on modern TVs thanks to its RGB cable! Given the incredible success (well deserved given the superb work) of the Nintendo Classic Mini, Sega should really publish new versions of these old consoles themselves, that would be great! But above all, avoid this Sega Megadrive At Game.
