Second Test of XBox Game Pass! Improved like good wine?
Yes! I have already been using the Game Pass subscription for 02 years on my Xbox One X but also on my PC! Here I offer you my second test of Xbox Game Pass!
With almost 02 years of Xbox Game Pass subscription, I think I have enough perspective to offer you this new test of Microsoft's video game rental service.
When it was released in May 2017, I was already attracted by this new digital XBox Game Pass video game subscription at €10/month. Being able to play more than 100 games at this price I found it incredible. Looking back, I'll be honest, the first months of Xbox Game Pass didn't offer many recent XBox One games, but they mainly offered very (too) many Xbox 360 games. But today things have changed a lot!
THE GOOD POINTS
From now on, each new game published by Microsoft (Xbox Studio) is offered in the Xbox Game Pass subscription! We can have fun on Sea Of Thieves, Forza Horizon 4, State Of Decay 2, Crackdown 3 and there is no doubt that we will be able to do the same on the next Gears 5, Halo Infinite, Age Of Empire, without forgetting the future top secret IPs…
The icing on the cake is that many recent XBox One video games from third-party publishers are joining Xbox Game Pass. I can mention The Shadow Of The Tomb Raider, Just Cause 4, Vampyr, Life Is Strange 2, Wolfenstein II, Monster Hunter World, Prey, Rocket League, PES 2019, The Hunter, PUBG, Hitman… It's pretty crazy but the Xbox Game Pass catalog is constantly improving. Each month sees the arrival of a new video game nugget on Xbox Game Pass
Some Xbox Game Pass games also work in cross play on PC, this option is really cool for being able to continue your games during your lunch break at work! Later, maybe all Xbox Game Pass games will work on PC!
Good point also, Xbox Game Pass now has its own mobile application on Android and Ios. This app is nice for keeping up to date with what's new but also for being able to remotely start downloads of new Xbox Game Pass games!
DEFECTS
Everything is not yet perfect with the Xbox Game Pass subscription. A huge amount of work remains to be done on the ergonomics of Xbox Game Pass on PC. The Microsoft Store is frankly messy and sometimes inconsistent. This is far from intuitive. A new connection to the Microsoft account on PC is often necessary for the Xbox Game Pass subscription to be recognized... It's also a shame that for the moment the entire Xbox Game Pass catalog is not yet available on PC. To conclude on the bad points, some games leave the XBox Game Pass subscription too early; Sometimes you have to hurry to enjoy the game.
MY VERDICT
You have understood, even if it is not yet perfect, Xbox Game Pass continues to evolve and improves over time, like a good wine. The game catalog is becoming more and more substantial. Having Xbox Studio games available on the day of their release is just great, but above all it’s a big plus! It is also rumored that Xbox Game Pass will soon even be available on Nintendo Switch, I know it's pretty crazy... For 10€/month, for me the calculation is quick! It’s much more profitable than buying your game in store! This formula suits me and I love consuming my digital video games on XBox One with this subscription. So I confirm what I said during the first test of the Xbox Game pass, trying it is frankly adopting it!
