Scream VI review
Today, I offer you my review of Scream VI!
Scream, but everyone knows the Scream saga! Everyone? Well no! I had never seen a Scream film when I was 37! Yes, shame on me, you can boo me and ring the “shame” bell in the street, I deserve it :p
To catch up, I attended a press screening of Scream VI. Well, I knew roughly what to expect. Like any good self-respecting slasher movie, a masked serial killer will attack a group of people. Obviously there will be deaths and survivors
The story of Scream VI takes place in New York. As luck would have it, we find ourselves in the middle of Halloween, so the bad guy goes unnoticed in his black costume with a ghost face. HE'S not called Ghostface for nothing in the Scream saga…
As you can imagine, Scream VI smacks of the cliché of the perfect little teen movie. I'll spare you the student parties, the groups of friends who are stereotypes seen again and again in series and films made in the USA. But that’s not unpleasant; it’s even entertaining. Honestly, I had a great time at this screening of Scream VI.
Indeed, the pace is sustained! The first minutes of the film put us straight into the (blood) bath. Scream VI is very generous in terms of action scenes. I admit, I did not expect certain scenes to be so intense and violent. I'm going to be wary now during my walks in Paris, when I come across a guy with a ghost mask :)
The story of Scream VI is also a nice surprise. I feared that it would be too predictable but it sometimes managed to surprise me. This episode VI seems to pay a nice tribute to fans of the Scream saga! I also appreciated the acting but also the successful special effects and the music. Obviously looking closer, we sometimes wonder how the killer finds himself as if by magic inside the apartment of a victim. There are also some shortcuts and perhaps some inconsistencies and illogical reflections from certain characters in the film.
My verdict!
I had a great time at this screening of Scream VI. The film lasts a little over 2 hours, but I didn't notice the time passing. It’s an effective gory and intense slasher movie! Of course, it uses many clichés and stereotypes from teen movies. However, thanks to its good production, this Scream VI is good entertainment, but also (and above all) a good experience to have at the cinema!
