Road 96 review!
On the road again! Here is my review of Road 96 on Xbox, Happy reading and have a good trip ^^!
I wanted to relax and play a little game without any hassle. So I looked at the list of Xbox Game Pass video games and decided to play Road 96!
Road 96is a narrative video game (made by the French studio DigixArt) awarded multiple times during thePegasus ceremony. During each game, we play a young runaway who tries to cross Route 96 in order to escape Petria, which is a totalitarian country. During the journey we will come across various mysterious NPCs with strong characters on our route. You have to see this Road 96 as a procedural game in the way you meet these famous NPCs. Road 96 deliberately neglects the story of our runaway in favor of the passive and the stories of the NPCs. Obviously I don't intend to reveal anything to you in terms of the story and the plot because that would spoil this original experience that Road 96 offers.
Road 96 is an independent first-person narrative video game. Even if it’s graphically simplistic, Road 96 has charm! I'm not an adventurer, but this video game makes me want to take a little road trip! This game gives off a real atmosphere, the music and the situations encountered are an invitation to follow your path. The handling offered by this Road 96 is simplistic but effective. We explore places, we select our dialogues, we activate different elements, we consult documents, we play mini games, with some passages in QTE, it's varied and pleasant. Road 96 is a quick video game to complete, but the desire is there to restart a new game and discover a different story with a new runaway. This video game aptly evokes different themes such as politics, immigration, flight, revolt and survival. I understand better why this Road 96 has been awarded multiple times.
Well, I'm going to mention the few small flaws of this Road 96. For a French game, in my opinion it would have deserved a real French version and not the original version with subtitles. I'm a grumpy old man, what do you want? It’s also a shame that the story of our runaways is never mentioned. In Road 96 we are just a small grain of sand in the story, the NPCs are the real main characters, it's confusing but hey you have to get used to it!

Road 96 is a refreshing narrative video game that exudes a certain charm! This video game is a good experience to live in your life as a gamer :) As a reminder, Road 96 is available on Xbox Game Pass but also on Playstation 4/5 Nintendo Switch and PC! I recommend you try this virtual road trip :p
