Review of Ace Dusk Falls on Xbox
I finished this video game this summer, I finally offer you my article! Here is the As Dusk Falls review!
We can say what we want but frankly the Xbox Game Pass allows you to discover a variety of video games. As Dusk Fall intrigued me after its presentation at E3, but without Xbox Game Pass I wouldn't see it. would probably never have played. Finally after completing this game, I am very happy to have tried it!
As Dusk Fallsis a multiple-choice narrative video game with entirely point-and-click gameplay. It’s a mix between a Telltale Games video game and a playful video work with Quantic Dream flavor. As Dusk Falls may not please everyone, in fact it is more of an interactive TV series than a video game.
In this game we have to make decisions, some of which seriously affect the story of As Duck Falls. Regarding the story, I'm not going to talk about it too much otherwise it will spoil the experience of the game for you. Basically a family (very) unfavorably known to the police will cross paths with another family who gets into trouble one after another. As Dusk Falls evokes various themes, such as divorce, deception, depression, suicide, family, etc... Some shocking scenes can be skipped so as not to disturb certain sensitive players.
The developers of the game As Dusk Falls have worked a lot on the narrative and the connections/interactions between the different protagonists. It’s really very neat and pleasant to follow. The atmosphere is successful (just like the staging and the music) we really feel the stress of certain situations present in the game. the VF of As Dusk Falls is pleasant, the voice actors worked well. Regarding the graphic style, As Dusk Falls is very unique. It’s a sequence of still images, a bit like looking at paintings in a museum, except that the characters in the paintings speak. I was confused at first but finally after a few minutes you got used to this particular graphic style. Pad in hand, there's nothing complicated since it's a point and click. Concerning the lifespan it is rather good, without forgetting that we can start a new game and discover a completely different story since our choices will be different. There are many changes to the plot, there's definitely plenty to keep you busy. I was happy, because I had a clear idea of what I wanted for the story and the ending. I got what I wanted, I made the right choices.
Obviously As Dusk Falls is not perfect. The story is very American cliché, as are some of the characters. It's also a shame that As Dusk Falls ultimately only offers point and click, ultimately it's more of an interactive novel than a video game.
My verdict
As Dusk Falls is a very polished and immersive interactive game/novel/film. If you enjoy this kind of point and click experience you will have a good time and you will come back to it because this video game offers many choices and therefore several different plots. I'm not unhappy to have played it but it's certain that without Xbox Game Pass I would have missed this game...
