PS4 PS Vita Remote Play review
Being tired of my Playstation Vita gathering dust, I said to myself, why not do a test of the Remote Play PS4 PS Vita. This Remote Play full of promises is unfortunately not perfect, here is my test!
It’s the dream of a lot of players! Being able to take your Playstation 4 with you, being able to play it wherever you are! Sony made this dream come true by offering a PS4 PS Vita “remote play” system. Basically the Playstation Vita “streams” content from the PS4!
How does it work?
Obviously to start you need a Playstation 4 and a Playstation Vita. Then you have to go to the PS4 settings and activate remote play. You must then associate the 02 consoles so that they recognize each other on the network. It's simple, you just have to enter a series of numbers and that's it! Your modem (router) takes care of the rest whether you are at home, in the office or on vacation. In order for everything to work properly it is necessary to have a solid internet connection at home but also outside... Obviously the ideal is to have optical fiber… Which unfortunately I don’t have 🙁
So what does that give?
Having tested it at home, yes the PS4 PS Vita remote play works! My ADSL connection at home was 12 mega, unfortunately it's not the best but there are worse! Due to my average ADSL connection but also my wifi which is far from great, the image quality is far from optimal, as is the framerate. But let's be honest, this PS4 streaming on my Playstation Vita helps out when my television is not accessible. Importantly, however, a fiber optic internet connection is just mandatory to be able to stream your Playstation 4 to PS Vita when you are traveling outside, otherwise it does not work... I also noticed a major hardware defect coming from the Playstation Vita. Indeed, how do you want to play a PS4 game correctly when the Playstation Vita does not have the R2 R3 and L2 L3 buttons! You have to make do with the touchscreen back of the console which will simulate these buttons but frankly it's unplayable! Red card for Sony!
SO? Good or not this Remote Play?
Frankly? Ugh! No more! Certainly if I had Optical Fiber my opinion would perhaps be better, but honestly the handling of PS4 games on PS Vita is frankly not that! What an idea not to have integrated the L2 R2 and L3 R3 buttons on the Playstation Vita… To conclude, Remote Play PS4 Ps Vita helps but it’s far from being the must! Instead, favor remote play of consoles from a PC or Mac!
