“Passion” video game journalists and influencers disgust me
This is my rant of the month but clearly enough is enough! On the lookout for the slightest rumor, the JV press and YouTubers do not hesitate to say anything!
How far gone are the days when the video games press had a minimum of seriousness and correctly covered video game news. Today we are bearing the brunt of these unverified “news”, in order to attract more and more people to their website or YouTube channel. It is obvious that the lure of profit, website traffic and monetization of videos on YouTube make these video game “journalists” and “influencers” richer.
It's distressingly mediocre, the latest example being the rumor of the next Assassin’s Creed. Unfortunately for video game “specialists” it was a beautiful fake and the vast majority of video game media fell for it by stupidly spreading this fake news.
With the upcoming arrival of the Playstation 5 and the Xbox Serie X, things are not getting better. These specialists are on the lookout for the slightest rumor in order to be the first to spread it. It’s pitiful and it disgusts me. Frankly, they are strong because they manage to write 05 articles on the only slogan submitted by Sony for the Playstation 5. Making news with wind is still crazy but the video games press and the YouTubers are fully into it, we have to maintain the traffic of the website but also monetize the YouTube videos eh!!!!
These influencers and journalists also do not hesitate to dismantle any Microsoft initiative with its next Xbox. Just look at the harsh criticism of the announcement of the Cross Gen Xbox One/Xbox Serie What are they looking for? a monopoly? Destroy the Xbox brand? Frankly, it’s rubbish. Personally, I like the Playstation and the Xbox equally, and we must not forget that the competition is important and allows us to obtain innovative games.
There is one last example that made me laugh. What is this completely disproportionate reaction from gaming YouTubers to Sony's announcement of the PS5. At the sight of the Playstation 5 slogan they all screamed with joy and became completely hysterical. Welcome to the era of one-upmanship, showmanship and comedy for the sake of views! Look at the thumbnails of certain influencers, it’s worthy of the film Idiocracy!
Anyway, to finish with my rant, don't count on me to relay rumors and bogus information like video game "journalists" and "influencers" do on a daily basis. I hope (without believing it) that one day Youtube will clean up its act and remove the monetization of its videos because influencers are ready to say and do anything to make money. What do you want, it’s the pa$$ion of video games ^^
