Ouya review!

I hesitated for a long time before purchasing this little Ouya, which represents one of the first Android home consoles! Indeed, given the killer tests of certain sites “specialized” in video games, I was on the verge of not buying it! During this test I will try to remain as objective as possible! On the other hand, I must admit that my objective for this Ouya was for it to become my Retrogaming test medium!, we can say that I was right on target!

When unpacking the machine, nothing to say!, connecting the console is simple (a cable for the power supply, and an HDMI cable for the HD TV). The small size of this Ouya is still amazing!, plus it seems solid and well assembled!, which is a very good starting point! In terms of configuration, it is close to the Nexus 7 tablet, namely an Nvidia Tegra 3 graphics processor, 1 gig of ram, 8 GB of internal disk space, wifi, bluetooth, a USB port and an ethernet socket! In short, a comfortable configuration for this small console! When starting up, a “OUYAAAAAAA” is heard from the TV speakers like in the SEGA era it’s louder than you (SEGAAAAAAAA)! Then you have to synchronize the controller with the Ouya, then finally configure a Wifi connection! From then on, updates are downloaded and installed! When launching the console for the first time, you must enter the codes of a credit card!, which is very problematic in terms of security! This obligation is for me a big flaw! Fortunately we can enter bogus codes via a trick on the internet!

The latest updates to the Ouya have erased the early flaws of the Android console! I want to have a big rant!, I don't understand the tests of "specialized" video game sites, they actually mention a lot of latency between the controller and the action on the screen! as well as operating system instabilities! And the icing on the cake is that they talk about a poorly designed controller! I want to be clear, there is no delay, latency or lag between the games and the controller!, the system is stable in addition to being very responsive! No crashes even with intensive use! The manufacturing of the controller is more than correct! The Ouya recognizes any video or music without any problem! This console is a great media center! Its operating system being Android, it is easy to install applications from this support! The launch games for this Ouya are nothing more, I'm not going to lie to you, on the other hand this console is the queen of retrogaming!!!

What a joy to be able to play old games from the Nes, Super Nes, Nintendo 64, Megadrive, Playstation, Neo Geo, PSP, DS, all in high definition (1080P) via the HDMI cable and at full speed!!! I'm having a blast on this Ouya! Rhaaa Street Of Rage in multi, Mario Kart 64, Destruction Derby 2, Tekken 3, Metal Gear Solid, Mario 64, Sonic… What a joy to rediscover your games on the large HD TV in the living room ^^. The Ouya is worth the purchase for the emulation alone, of course you have to own the original games! Note that this Ouya is an Open Source console, there is no doubt that quality games will soon arrive!!!

In conclusion, I appreciate this Ouya for its superb media center (XBMC), its perfect retrogaming on High Definition TV, and its open source side which promises a very bright future for the machine! Personally, I recommend purchasing this Ouya for Retrogaming lovers! They will find THE solution to the problem of old consoles on HDTVs!!! The Ouya, to try it is to adopt it!
