Oculus Quest 2 review!

Today I am going to present to you my Christmas present! So here is the Oculus Quest 2 review!

I took advantage of last Black Friday to give myself my Christmas present early ^^. We only have one life after all, so we might as well make the most of it and buy what we want, right? 🙂 . After several virtual reality sessions, I can now offer you my review of the Oculus Quest 2! Spoiler alert, this VR headset is the bomb!

Being a big fan of virtual reality, I was happy with the Playstation VR until now. It’s a very good VR headset but damn it takes a long time to connect! With its string of cables to connect to your PS4 we are easily discouraged!

The Oculus Quest 2 eliminates this big flaw! Facebook's virtual reality headset is completely autonomous! Yes you are not dreaming! No cable to plug in and even better, no need to connect it to a computer!

I was afraid that the Oculus Quest 2 would be complicated to configure, but in the end it's quite the opposite! It’s very easy to get started!

Here's a quick tutorial

First of all, create a Facebook account dedicated to the virtual reality headset, it’s safer! I don’t want aunt Martine to discover my hobbies lol.

Then create your account on the Oculus application available on Ios and Android. Don’t hesitate to get sponsored, you will earn €30 on your Oculus account, that’s cool, right?

Charge then turn on your Oculus Quest 2 headset, pair it with the Oculus application, enter your Wifi code and welcome to the Virtual world of the Oculus Quest 2!

I am amazed by the interface of the Oculus Quest 2. After having demarcated a safe zone, we find ourselves in a virtual world and we have in front of us a dashboard, allowing us to browse the web, launch applications, go to the Oculus store and access the headset settings. This interface is easily manipulated using the “touch” (battery-powered) controllers. One for the left hand. The other for the right hand. We target the application we want to launch and we pull to validate!

You know me, I tried the Beat Saber demo, and after a little time getting used to it I had a blast. This is a new way to play video games and it’s very, very fun :) . Then play completely wirelessly, what a pleasure! I'm going to test other demos soon (including the Climb), and I plan to wait for the next sales, because I find the video games a little too expensive on the Oculus store (€30 for beat saber…).

I also advise you to try Youtube VR, it’s really amazing. It looks like it! The feeling of being somewhere else is crazy. I admit, I’m lucky to have a very good internet connection, so the videos are of excellent quality!

The Oculus Quest 2 headset is very well made. It is pleasant to wear, it fits well in the head and it is not too heavy. The image is also excellent, I find it better than on the Playstation VR. The sound is also very good, it’s very, very immersive! The controllers have wrist straps to prevent them from swinging lol.

The only downside is that, but at the same time it is perfectly logical given that it is autonomous, the Oculus Quest 2 cannot run AAA type video games. Apparently it would be possible to connect it to a fast PC to play big games but as a result it loses its autonomy advantage. Super cool thing, Facebook announced that GTA San Andreas will arrive at the end of 2022 on the Oculus Quest 2, it could be very, very fun, I can’t wait :)

Here is my verdict!

The Oculus Quest 2 is for me the best virtual reality headset at the moment. It is autonomous, completely wireless, not too expensive (300/349€), pleasant to wear, I absolutely do not regret my purchase. What a joy to be able to enjoy superb virtual reality experiences without any configuration or wire constraints. And again, I think the best is yet to come with the metaverse which should be democratized within a few years! Trying the Oculus Quest 2 means adopting it!!!
