I offer you my test of an atypical management game on PC. In this game, you have to build and manage a movie studio! Here is my review of The Movies on PC
I admit I really like management games, especially those that stand out like Theme Hospital, or Rollercoaster Tycoon of the name, I can spend a lot of time having fun watching these games! Today I offer you my test of The Movies on PC. Obviously the studio behind this game was the brilliant company Lionhead Studios (Black And White, the Fable saga), now unfairly closed by Microsoft. The Movies offers us the opportunity to create and manage a film studio but also create our own films! The menu is more than consistent, believe me! This game even has a historical side by retracing the incredible history of the 7th art through different eras. We thus improve our general culture but especially cinematographic. Like any management game, we start at the beginning ^^ i.e. starting from zero! You have to build everything, the different areas, the sets, the caravans for the stars, different buildings (art school, team office, script office, R&D office, post production etc…), relaxation areas for the stars, and many other things. As with Theme Hospital, The Movies has a completely offbeat but above all delirious side so as not to take itself too seriously. Between the whims of the stars, their addictions (alcohol, food), the makeover, the paparazzi, the studio employees and the actors who also have to be managed correctly (and above all paid handsomely ^^) we never get bored :) .
In The Movies the competition is fierce between the different studios in the race for capitalism, for the Oscars, but above all in the race for monopoly to crush the competition. The success of our studio is important in order to recruit new staff but above all to be able to enjoy all the incredible possibilities of The Movies. Realize that we can create our own films from A to Z, create our scripts, integrate our own dialogues, this film editor is complete and above all very intuitive!. It is also possible to sell our films, our capricious stars, The Movies is an incredibly addictive but above all very complete management game. The Movies also benefits from very careful production, this game is more than 10 years old but it has nothing to be ashamed of compared to current management games! It is very beautiful and very fluid! The gameplay but especially the interface of this management game are perfectly clear and intuitive, it's really good! What can we say about the incredible soundtrack, reminding us that cinema has not stolen its reputation as a 7th art! No matter how much I searched, I didn't find any annoying flaws in this game! Fellow movie buffs, you absolutely must play The Movies, you will never regret it! This movie studio management game is addictive, very fun and has incredible replayability as well as a gigantic lifespan! The Movies is a video game gem and certainly one of the best management games! Well done! This game has its place in a retrogaming collection!
