My review of Sega Rally 2 on Dreamcast!
Available during the commercial launch of the Sega Dreamcast, I offer you my review of Sega Rally 2 on Dreamcast! Was this version as good as the arcade machine? Here are my answers!
The Sega Dreamcast being renowned for its arcade type games, it seemed obvious to me that this Sega Rally 2 would be as good on the Dreamcast as on the terminals available in the arcades, unfortunately the European version of the game was a bit sacrificed... Here is my review of Sega Rally 2 on Dreamcast. The reputation of Sega Rally is well established, as this saga is played in arcades all over the world. As its title indicates, it is an arcade rally racing game whose goal is to finish among the first, establish the best times and compete in joy and good humor with other players either in VS mode or by beating the times of your friends. The Dreamcast version of Sega Rally 2 has the advantage of having additional tracks, hidden vehicles, a championship mode, not forgetting the very famous arcade mode but also the 2 player mode.
On the other hand, I never understood why the European Dreamcast version of the game is limited to a 50Hz display mode. Obviously the game is slower, we encounter black bands, the image is less clear and fluid, it's a real stain for an arcade game which should normally be beautiful and very fast. IN addition to this, the Dreamcast version of Sega Rally 2 suffered from some slowdowns and omnipresent clipping. Despite these few flaws, this Sega Rally 2 Dreamcast perfectly respects the heritage of the arcade version of the Saga, Sega Rally. The atmosphere is crazy, the races are fun and fast, we beat the times one after the other, and we challenge our friends. This Sega Rally 2 on Dreamcast is certainly not perfect but it still has its place in the collector's game library of the venerable Sega Dreamcast! I recommend you play it :)
