My review of Halo Combat Evolved
Today I offer you my test of Halo Combat Evolved on the very first Xbox released in 2001! Rha time passes too quickly!
As they often say, better late than never, so today I offer you my little test of the extremely excellent Halo Combat Evolved on my venerable first Xbox! This FPS was available for the launch of Microsoft's first video game console and for once, it was a downright video game bomb!
No, but Halo what!
I apologize for this lame title but I had to post it! Halo what a hell of a game! This FPS which takes place in the distant future, allows us to embody a formidable Spartan, known worldwide today, under the name of Master Chief, or Spartan John 117. This Spartan plays an important role in the war which pits human beings against the formidable Covenant. In story mode, our mission is to complete different objectives during several missions in order to obtain a certain advantage in this war. So that’s it for the scenario. Regarding the atmosphere, we're not going to lie, it's a very good Hollywood blockbuster! Aided by iconic music and exceptional staging, this Halo Combat Evolved is a real treat! To top it all off, graphically this video game pulverized the FPS of the time, it was visually superb. The settings were vast, splendid but above all varied. And what about the gameplay! Even keyboard/mouse combo purists enjoyed playing Halo Combat Evolved on the big Microsoft Xbox pad! The gameplay of this FPS was nervous, precise but above all flawless. For the time, the game's AI was quite incredible, the enemies did not hesitate to protect themselves and bypass us, it was quite disconcerting for the time. Frankly Bungie worked really well on its Halo Combat Evolved

And yes! in addition to its very good story mode, it is possible to play the entire campaign in cooperative mode in split screen! That's not enough for you? Like GoldenEye on Nintendo 64, it is possible to compete in Halo with 4 players in split screen! Want even more? Well, connect up to 04 Xboxes to play with up to 16 players in local network mode! Damn, I spent hours playing this superb Halo Combat Evolved with my friends on a local network! It was a mess at my house! 04 cathode ray TVs, 04 Xboxes, a switch and miles of cables! But it was incredible! I still think about it today, and I admit I miss those times 🙂 . Multiplayer allowed you to play in death match or capture the flag mode and many other modes! Later, hackers even suggested connecting the XBox to a PC in order to simulate a local network to actually play with other players on the Internet! And yes in 2001 XBox Live was not yet available! Clearly, I think I have covered everything about Halo Combat Evolved, the first of the name. This FPS is downright brilliant, even today thanks to its superb remaster Halo Combat Evolved is worth it! It's the Spartan War!!!
