Milestone is offering its 2022 vintage of its MotoGP video game! For the occasion,Koch Mediaasked me to test this motorcycle racing game on Playstation 5. Obviously I accepted with great pleasure! As the godfather would say, it’s an offer you can’t refuse! Thank you to the entire Koch Media team!

What's new in this MotoGP 22? This 2022 edition offers a 02-player split screen! It's nice and it reminds us of the good old days when we played with friends and family via the split screen in the living room :) . Another new feature that I appreciated was the 2009 season nine mode. It's a sort of commented story mode that allows us to relive the 2009 Moto GP season. We play legendary drivers like Stoner, Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Rossi. In this mode, different challenges are offered and the narration is quality. This nine season 2009 mode is clearly the best surprise of this MotoGP, this new feature is very immersive and immerses us in the history of MotoGP.

Then in MotoGP 22 we find the training mode, the online multiplayer mode, the fast mode where we can launch a grand prix, a championship, a time trial and a split screen. The biggest piece of the pie is of course the very very complete career mode. He offers us Moto2 Moto3 and of course MotoGP! After selecting your agent and your team, we embark on our new career as a motorcycle driver. The weeks go by and we go through tests, qualifications, championships and R&D allows us to improve the performance of our bike. Moto GP 22 offers 20 official circuits with its hundred drivers. Personally lacking time, MotoGP 22 allows me to accelerate the career mode and go directly to the race without going through the test + qualifying boxes. It’s nice for gamer dads who combine work+family+video games 🙂 . We would need more than 24 hours a day to be able to do everything lol

Now let's move on to the gameplay. Like Commissioner Gilbert, I am issuing a “GENERAL ALERT”.I warn you right away, it's a simulation-oriented motorcycle racing game, but really simulationlol. Even though MotoGP offers different modes suitable for each type of player, it remains very demanding. Needless to say, with my two left hands I caught huge bowls on my motorbike haha. It still takes many laps before we can properly master our bike!!! Fortunately MotoGP 22 has a flashback (the best invention of Forza Motorsport). You can throw tomatoes in my face, I assume, I use the rewind mode because I don't want to start everything from the beginning lol. As I continue to ride, I progress and I negotiate my turns and my speed better and better. In short MotoGP 22 is demanding but rewarding. Of course, the Dualsence of the PS5 still has its effect with its triggers which make us feel the track and the braking of our motorcycles, this controller is really the must.

Graphically MotoGP 22 is solid. The 60 frames per second are stable and provide excellent sensations in terms of speed. Visually it's clean even if I think the PS5 (like the Xbox Series X) can do better. It's slightly lacking in details at times, but frankly I find that Moto GP 22 is up to the standards of racing games. It's fast, there's no aliasing, no visual bugs, it's all good. Sound level is not bad and the immersion is there.

My verdict!

As I said above, MotoGP 22 is a (very) demanding but rewarding complete motorcycle racing game. With practice we progress. I appreciate its nine season 2009 mode as well as the fast mode, the split screen and the career mode that can be adjusted depending on our playing time. If you love MotoGP, MotoGP 22 is for you! On the other hand, if you are allergic to simulation and you only swear by arcade racing games in Sega mode, you might as well move on lol. To conclude, MotoGP 22 is a good motorcycle racing simulation! This racing video game is hearty and you get what you pay for!
