Hi-Fi Rush review

For a surprise, this video game is a very nice surprise! Here is my test (in rhythm) of Hi-Fi Rush!

While I was playing God Of War Ragnarok on PS5, and at the same time The Witcher 3, the last Xbox/Bethesda conference took me by surprise! In fact, they calmly announced the immediate availability of a new video game on Xbox Game Pass, which I immediately fell in love with!Hi-Fi Rush! But what the hell is this crazy 3D action game with this crazy music! At first I wondered if it wasn't a new game like Jet Set Radio or Sunset Overdrive! In any case, I couldn’t wait to play it on Xbox Game Pass!  I have now finished Hi-Fi Rush and I really had a great time! Here is my test!

From the start, I was hooked on the atmosphere of Hi-Fi Rush!  This new video game offers cell shading graphics like Jet Set Radio, a futuristic world with robots and augmented humans, a good-natured but also crazy atmosphere, but above all a damn excellent gameplay synchronized with the rhythm of the different music. We continue the fights, the platform phases, and we devour the different levels offered by Hi-Fi Rush. During my first game, I had a hard time stopping, I loved it so much!

The character we play, Chai, wants to become a “Rock Star” but obviously everything will not go as planned and he will therefore have to fight for his survival and defeat the different members of a Machiavellian society who wants to enslave its customers! During the game, you will meet different allies who will help you beat certain enemies and end-of-level bosses. Hi-Fi Rush, like any action adventure game of the moment, offers a small dose of RPG and collectibles, as well as different difficulty levels.

The masterful soundtrack of Hifi Rush is clearly the biggest strong point of this game! Take headphones you will love! The fights and movements are synchronized with the music, it's really exhilarating with the controller in hand! After a little time to adapt to the gameplay, we're having a blast! Once in the game it's hard to stop because it's so fun. Hi-Fi Rush progresses through the levels and renews its game mechanics so that you never get bored. Also note that the game is fully dubbed in French! I played Hifi Rush on Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X, graphically it’s superb (also available on PC)! Cell Shading has its place in the game, you have the impression of progressing in a comic book, and obviously the game is perfectly fluid whatever the situation. I also played Hi-Fi Rush on my Steam Deck via Xbox Cloud Gaming, well it's really amazing in terms of fluidity! I completed the main plot in 6 hours but obviously the replayability is enormous by increasing the difficulty of the game without forgetting that Hi-Fi Rush offers different challenges in addition to the story!

My verdict!

Hi-Fi Rush is a game we hoped for more! It’s a very nice tribute to the digital works of the 128 Bit era of the Sega Dreamcast (hello Jet Set Radio :p). This is an excellent fast-paced 3D action/adventure game! The music duplicates the fun in the game, the gameplay is excellent, the graphics are cute! It’s flawless! Bravo for this unexpected video game gem! Thank you for this innovative video game which does a lot of good to my little gaming heart :)
