God of War Ragnarök review on PS5
Here is my review of God of War Ragnarök on my Playstation 5!
I finally finished God of War Ragnarök on my Playstation 5! 😀 I took my time, and I'm glad I didn't rush this video game!
God of War Ragnarök is the direct sequel to God Of War which landed in 2018 on Playstation 4! Kratos and Atreus set off on an adventure again and as you can imagine, this story will not be easy! Freya, Odin, Thor won't leave good old Kratos alone. Obviously, Atreus, aka Loki, will also want to know more about the prophecy and like a good rebellious teenager, he will show his father Kratos all the colors. Clearly, there are no spoilers in my test, I loved the story, but especially the end of God Of War Ragnarök.
We actually feel thatGod Of War Ragnarokis a direct sequel to the 2018 video game. The gameplay has barely evolved and we feel the weight of the years. Pad in hand, sometimes we complain about this dated gameplay, but hey, we deal with it, because God Of War Ragnarök still remains a damn good release of steam :) . There's action, there's adventure, there's exploration, some puzzles, in short it ticks all the boxes of a very good video game ^^
Visually, God Of War Ragnarök is solid and builds on the very good foundations of God Of War 2018. Note that certain levels are truly magnificent and inspired. On Playstation 5, the game offers numerous graphics modes (quality/performance/quality+hfr) including “the holy grail” 60 frames per second and it’s really a pleasure!
I noticed a certain imbalance in terms of the lifespan of certain chapters. Clearly some of them are endless. It’s long but it’s long! For me it's clearly artificially increasing the lifespan of the game. Besides that, I was disgusted with the final chapter which goes by at full speed :-/ . On the other hand, I salute the very good accessibility of the game. Everyone can enjoy GoD Of War Ragnarök thanks to the different difficulty modes, that's a very good thing.
As always, in AAA single-player games from Playstation, the atmosphere is there and the staging is top-notch. This is undoubtedly a great single-player video game Pop Corn!
My verdict
God Of War Ragnarök is the worthy sequel to God Of War on the Playstation 4. Even if it shows the weight of the years with its gameplay, it nonetheless remains a (very) great single-player video game and a very beautiful story between Kratos and his son Atreus! We forgive the few lengths of the game and we have fun as we should 🙂
