G.E.E.K the play
(Update) This weekend I attended the G.E.E.K Theater play in Paris!
G.E.E.K – Amazing Generation of Contradictory Emotionsis a theater piece that can be seen since January 12, 2023 at the Théâtre du Roi René in Paris.
This piece of theater indicates that it is inspired by the mechanics of a narrative video game with thousands of story possibilities, and it is the audience who decides how the story unfolds! I think this audience participation can be very funny! As someone who loves narrative video games, in my opinion, I should like this play :)
This union between a multiple-choice narrative video game and a play is written by Maxime Minault, directed by Renato Ribeiro and produced by Les Geeks au Plateau Production.

The charming little Rois René theater in Paris 11was a full house on Saturday evening. We all had 3 boxes. A Blue card for Ernest, a yellow card for Mathieu, and a red card for Lucie. These colored cards were like the buttons on a video game controller, we just had to select our color when asked.
As when we start a new video game, we select our character in this play but also other parameters such as an object which will be decisive in the story (I'll say no more ^^). This whole piece is reminiscent of a narrative video game but with real characters, who are clearly talented actors! It’s crazy to think that they have memorized the many branches of this story and the multiple possible scenarios.
This play was an opportunity for all of us to modify the plot according to our choices and it was frankly very fun. It must be said that the actors, who were very funny, put the audience at ease. The interactions between the public and the artists were natural. It's not ordinary to attend a participatory play, I had a lot of fun and I wasn't the only one seeing the audience's laughter!
Obviously this play gave pride of place to the geek / video game / pop culture references of my youth! You can imagine that I had a great time and had a good laugh. Certain situations reminded me of my strange period in shared accommodation when I arrived in Paris at the age of 23. My children also loved this play, it must be said that the story decided by the public was very funny.
It’s crazy to think that the G.E.E.K Theater play is different in each performance. And yes, as in a narrative video game, our choices often modify the story in unexpected ways.
