Forza Horizon 5 Rally Adventure review

Here is my test of the FH5 rally expansion, namely Forza Horizon 5 Rally Adventure!

Forza Horizon 5 Rally Adventure is the second expansion to Forza Horizon 5, the excellent open world arcade racing game set in Mexico. This Rally Adventure expansion takes place in a new open world, Sierra Nueva. So what is this FH5 Rally expansion worth?

Sierra Nueva the new play area!

The new open area, Sierra Nueva, is as pleasant to travel and explore as in the gigantic Mexican open world of the original Forza Horizon 5 game. Visually Playground Games managed to do even better than in Forza Horizon 5. The roads are winding and detailed, the biomes are lush, the visual effects are impressive and numerous but above all the game is perfectly fluid on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S! The developers are reaching for the sky with this high-flying achievement of the Forza Horizon 5 Rally Adventure expansion. This bodes well for their next video games!

Pad in hand Forza Horizon 5 Rally Adventure is probably the most technical Forza Horizon game, but also clearly the most interesting. The routes are numerous; original but also and above all sinuous. The first races set the tone, and directly set the mood. The Rally Adventure expansion has a good smell of Sega Rally which doesn't displease me! We have a co-driver who tells us the types of turns and dangerous areas, it's exhilarating, we feel like we're in a rally race! The helicopter follows our progress and the goal is to set the best time. In short, we continue the races with 3 categories for the rally. Mixed rally, night rally and road rally. Each category offers at the end the race against the boss, to finally unlock the Goliath of Sierra Nueva.

You can count on 4.5 hours to complete the main adventure of Forza Horizon 5 Rally Adventure. This may seem weak but it suits me very well, endless games tire me out.

A certain redundancy!

Yes even ifForza Horizon 5 Rally Adventurefinally offers real rally races, well after a while you feel that it's repetitive. It's a bit like the syndrome of the latest Forza Horizons. Clearly the developers cannot reinvent the wheel, but above all they find it difficult to repeat the tests but also to innovate.  This is problematic, since Forza Horizon 3 I have struggled to see innovation in this open world arcade racing saga. It’s the same thing all the time. The different race categories, the radars, the danger zones, the formula is unfortunately always the same. I sincerely hope that the next Forza Horizon will be innovative but above all that it will take risks by offering new things.

My verdict

Forza Horizon 5 Rally Adventure is a welcome expansion for those who enjoy rally-style racing. The qualities of this extension are undoubtedly the winding and technical routes, the races but also and above all its high-level technical achievement! Playground Games clearly masters its subject of car racing video games. Available at a low price, don't hesitate to try this Forza Horizon 5 expansion, especially if the subject of rally racing speaks to you!
