Beta Sea Of Thieves Hoist, you need sailors!
After a few hours spent on Rare's next game, this Sea Of Thieves Beta smells like rum! On board!
A few months ago, I rather enjoyed the technical alpha of Rare's next pirate game on Xbox One, aptly named Sea Of Thieves! I really had a good time! I had the opportunity last night to try the Sea Of Thieves Beta, this next game being normally scheduled for the month of March! So Matelot is this game good?
Sea Of Thieves is not for freshwater sailors!
And yes Sailor, in Sea Of Thieves, on board the ship, you have to manage everything. The compass, the map, the helm, the cannons, the water leaks, the sails, the ink… Your job as a pirate will be put to the test. But for any good self-respecting pirate, exploration, music, rum and the discovery of treasures will be an inestimable reward :)
Beware of seasickness!
It's rocking aboard the ship! Between the currents, the swell, the big waves, you'll have to have a strong heart! Special mention to the superb creation of the sea which is incredibly realistic in Sea Of Thieves! The islands, the horizon and the sky are also really well done, the cartoon effect of the graphics is really very pleasant! Nothing to say about the really well optimized gameplay on the Xbox One pad! Well done Rare!
Is it cool to be a pirate?
Honestly yes! It’s fun!, especially together with a group of friends! Each player is useful because there is always something to do on board the ship or while exploring an island. In Sea Of Thieves it is possible to encounter other pirate ships led by players, hostile or not! You must therefore prepare for a possible naval battle 🙂 without forgetting the pirate fights! On the Sea Of Thieves beta, it is possible to buy cards to discover treasures, but also puzzles are offered to vary the pleasures. The code of piracy seems to take on its full importance in Sea Of Thieves. This all sounds really cool for this next game!
What about the content?
I think that's the question everyone is asking. Indeed in the Sea Of Thieves Beta, the map is incredibly large and vast. There are undoubtedly hours of exploration. On the other hand, I wonder about various points. Sea Of Thieves is focused on multiplayer, which is understandable given how fun this game is with friends. However will there be a solid story? A real single player mode? Will this game be able to vary its gameplay phases? These questions are important but this Sea Of Thieves beta does not yet provide all the answers…
In the meantime, I'm having fun with this Sea Of Thieves beta, so count on me for my final verdict, normally in March if all goes well for the next release of this mysterious but promising pirate game!
