Here's a wild west style arcade game that I dug up at the bottom of my drawer from the Sega 08-bit console! Here is my review of Bank Panic on Sega Master System!
Haha! Bank Panic, I remember this little arcade game smelling like a spaghetti western! I owned this game when I was a kid on my venerable Sega Master System 2! In this article, I offer you my little test of Bank Panic on Sega Master System!
Welcome to my bank!
The principle of Bank Panic is very simple! We must ensure the security of a bank in the era of the Wild West, and the goal is to collect as much money as possible while avoiding being shot by trigger-happy desperadoes! In Bank Panic three types of customers arrive at our bank! The honest citizens, the little jokers in sombreros and the evil desperadoes mentioned above! For the latter, you should not hesitate to use the revolver. But be careful not to shoot at honest citizens, at the risk of stupidly losing a precious life. The goal is to serve all the customers before moving to the next level, obviously the difficulty increases as you go! This very basic principle quickly proves to be fun and addictive as long as you like shooting games where reflexes and speed are required. Everything in Bank Panic evokes the era of the wild west with its graphics, its atmosphere, its sound effects! It’s quite funny, and this kind of video game was rare at the time!
Bank Panic a game for seniors!
Yes, I think that today's young players will be confused by Bank Panic! To be honest, unlike other Sega Master System games, Bank Panic has aged rather poorly. The graphics are austere and simplistic, the Sega Master System frankly knew how to do better. In addition, the gameplay with the Sega Master System pad is frankly not easy! And yes this controller only has 2 buttons while 3 ATM doors are presented to us in Bank Panic! And yes, because of this unsuitable gameplay flaw, the games in Bank Panic are difficult, it's really a shame because this arcade game is really fun!
My verdict on Bank Panic!
Bank Panic on Sega Master System is a rather pleasant little arcade shooter with a wild west twist! The games are fast, it's addictive fun and it's quite original for a game from the Sega Master System era! It's a shame, however, that it is visually behind and that the gameplay is not perfectly adapted to the pad of Sega's 08-bit console! Cowboy friends, if these few flaws don't put you off you're going to have a good time in Bank Panic on Sega Master System!
