Babylon movie review
For this new year I offer you my review of the film Babylon!
This time, I'm not going to talk to you about video games, but about a film that I saw this morning during a special press session. This is the film Babylon, written and directed by Damien Chazelle! This film will arrive in our cinemas on January 18, 2023.
You know, in addition to loving video games, I have been a lover of cinema since my childhood. Cinema makes us dream and allows us to live a thousand lives, a movie session is a beautiful escape from our monotonous, monotonous lives.
Babylon the film confirms what I think about the benefits of cinema. Despite its few crude and violent scenes, I enjoyed this session and plunged into the full revolution of Hollywood cinema. We start at the beginning of cinema in the 1920s with silent films. We then move forward in time and we discover the transition with the sound/talking film revolution and all the consequences on the actors, good and bad, of the progress of cinema.
The 3 hours of the film allow us to follow the adventures of 2 film stars as well as their entourages, who alternate between film shoots and sumptuous evenings (orgies, drugs, alcohol, fighting). Brad Pitt plays an essential star of the silent film, Margot Robbie wants to do everything to shine in Hollywood. Diego Calva starts as an assistant and climbs the ranks in the film industry. I found the storyline of Babylon predictable, at the same time I know a little about the history of the Hollywood film industry, so I was hardly surprised. Some scenes are crude/violent but others are frankly very funny, the bursts of laughter were perceptible in the room ^^. Babylon's music is sumptuous and pays homage to the orchestras that accompanied the various film shoots. The film also pays tribute to the different professions that allow a film to exist (extras, sound/lighting technicians, screenwriters, makeup artists, etc.)
My verdict
Babylon is a film that goes off the beaten track, frankly it feels good after this overdose of superhero films in tights… I had a good time watching Babylon, the film lasts 3 hours but I never looked at my watch, which is often a good sign, in short I wasn't bored :) This film is a very nice tribute to Hollywood cinema. Babylon is an ode to the love of the 7th art!
