Analogue Mega SG test! The Rolls Royce of Megadrives!

I was tired of having a disgusting image in my Sega Mega Drive games on the Full HD TV. Unfortunately, it must be said that our modern televisions do not pay homage at all to this incredible 16-bit console from Sega. The image is horrible on scart... I tried the Mega Drive consoles from At Games, but clearly the result was far from terrible. It was during a visit to my great friend that I discovered his Analogue Super NT! Clearly I was amazed! On his 4K OLED TV, the Super Nintendo games connected to his Super NT Analogue were sublime! Impeccable fluidity, responsive controller, incredible sound, it surpasses classic emulation. It was also my great friend who informed me thatAnalogue is back with the Mega SG, while promising an exceptional Mega Drive gaming experience. Neither one, nor two, so I broke the bank, it cost me a little more than €200, yes I know it's exorbitant, but when you love Sega you don't count 🙂 Available in 04 versions (US, JAP, EU and white) I selected the Japanese version which was the prettiest for me!

MEGA SG STRONGER THAN YOU?

Oh yes, despite its small size, I was impressed by the robustness of this console. Clearly the design quality of this machine is exceptional, it truly is a premium console. It has nothing to do with the low-end clones from the At Games company. I almost want to say that the Analogue Mega SG seems even more reliable and robust than the venerable Sega Mega Drive which was already of excellent quality. In terms of connectivity, the Analogue Mega SG has a USB power supply, an HDMI connection, and a "top of the top" Mega CD connection, just to plug in the Mega CD extension :) In the case of the Analogue Mega SG there is also a cartridge to be able to insert your Sega Master System games! The entire video game catalog of the Sega 8 and 16-bit family in a single console, what a dream!

MAKE MEGA DRIVE GREAT AGAIN!

Haha once the Mega SG analog is connected, you find yourself in a refined menu, in order to be able to launch your game but also to adjust different parameters such as the visual (original 4/3 16/9) the audio or the hardware of the creature. Clearly I didn't bother, I set my Mega SG to 1080P 60 4/3, and I added a scanline mode. As a first game, what could be better than launching my very first Mega Drive game, namely the venerable Sonic The Hedgehog. How do I tell you? I took a huge pie in my gamer face! I went back in time, I felt the thrills of my childhood by (re)discovering Sonic the Hedgehog for the first time! Finally!!!, finally!!!! I have a sublime image on my modern television, what a treat! And the sound??? It’s just sublime, I feel like I have an arcade machine in my living room! In game, everything is super smooth, without any lag, but the most important thing is that this Analogue Mega SG is perfectly faithful to the original Sega Mega Drive! At no time have I managed to fault this console. There is no doubt that it is the FPGA system integrated into this Analogue Mega SG that works wonders in gaming!  What a joy also to be able to connect the original Sega Mega Drive controller, just like in the good old days! I'm sorry but apart from the price, I couldn't find any fault with this Analogue Mega SG. Yes, maybe one. It is not yet compatible with Sega 32X… Who knows maybe one day, via an update? The icing on the cake is that the Analogue Mega SG offers the opportunity to play “Project Hardcore”, a canceled DICE game that was never released on the Sega Megadrive at the time! Without forgetting that the Analogue Mega SG is region free, PAL and NTSC game cartridges don't scare it!

THE ULTIMATE MEGA DRIVE

As Sega's Mega Drive Mini is not yet available, for me, the Analogue Mega SG is currently first on the podium! This machine deserves to be stamped SEGA. This little console is robust, incredibly faithful to Sega consoles, and takes me back to my childhood as a fan of the blue hedgehog Sonic 🙂 The Mega SG analog surpasses the classic emulation of Megadrive games. To those who say that a raspberry pi is sufficient, I will answer yes, it's not bad but try the Mega SG analog! You are going to adopt this console 🙂 Clearly, Bravo, bravo and a thousand times bravo, to the Analogue company for this incredible Mega SG! Fans of the Sega brand will be in heaven playing this Analogue Mega SG! This console is a dream come true for any self-respecting Sega gamer! On the other hand, this dream comes at a not really reasonable price!!! But like John Hammond in Jurassic Park I spent lavishly 😀
